The Vernon was reopened by Jimmy Monaghan back in 2008, after a very successful spell running a pub down the road, which Jimmy turned into a favorite pub of students.
When he decided to move on Jimmy wanted a fresh challenge and decided that the Vernon Arms was the right one for him. One of the things that attracted Jimmy to the Vernon was the 6 real ale pumps that the pub had – Jimmy has always supported Camra’s campaign for real ale and has won quite a few awards from them since he re-opened the pub – and the history of the bar itself.
Jimmy has always employed helpful and knowledgeable and approachable staff. They know their ale, and always serve with a smile.
